Cheshire is a country of rugged hills contrasting with gentle, rolling pastures.

The area's history dates back to Roman times and nowhere is its heritage more in evidence than in Chester. To this day, you can visit the ampitheatre which was once the largest in Britain. It is also a medieval city with much of its architecture - from the covered galleries if The Rows ti the magnificent cathedral - dating back to the middle ages.

The county's gardens are amongst the best in Britain. While Tatton Park, near Knutsford, plays host to the Royal Horticultural Society's Flower Show every July, its extensive grounds are a delight at any time of the year.

Cheshire is also great for walkers with many routes to choose from including the Sanstone Trail which rises from the Cheshire Plain.
