Lowlands with so many high points

From the low-lying fenland landscape, Lincoln Cathedral rises to create an unmistakeable landmark, which is visible from many miles around.

Today, Middle England offers a wealth of attractions from the atmospheric Sherwood Forest, where ancient oak trees are said to have stood for over 800 years, to stately homes such as Althorp House and Park.

For a taste of tradition visit Melton Mowbray, which has been England's pork pie capital since the last century.

Cambridge, to the south of the region, boasts the beautiful Backs where the River Cam flows alongside some of the university's most famous colleges.
