A Holiday With A View

From the Exemoor national park to the cider orchards of Somerset, this is an area of great beauty and variety. No less than five ranges of hills rise from the landscape - including the Mendips and Quantocks - and all provide inspiring views over some of Britain's most lush and fertile countryside.

Along the coast, resorts such as Ilfracombe and Minehead provide traditional fun while the blue flag beach at Woolacombe has recently been names one of the 10 best worldwide.

Away from the coast, Taunton is a quintessential county town and Wells carries the honour of being Britain's smallest city.

Heading underground, Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole boast some of this country's most spectacular caves carved from the limestone over tens of millennia.
