The Purple Of The Moors, The Blue Of The Sea

In the North Yorkshire Moors purple heather stretches into the distance across a vast landscape, which also happens to be the most wooded of all the country's National Parks.

Visit picturesque Goathland and it's easy to see why it was a natural choice to be Heartbeat's Adenfield. While you're there you might even see one of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway trains, which became the Hogwart's Express in the Harry Potter films.

On the coast, Scarborough and Bridlington are still as appealing as they were in Victorian times while the great sweep of Robin Hood's Bay is perfect for paddling, surfing or simply a game of beach cricket. At Runswick Bay, white-walled cottages cluster round the meandering lanes which lead down to its wide, sandy bay.

Further up the coast, there's Whitby with its links with both Captain Cook and Count Dracula and quaint fishing villages such as Staithes and Saltburn.
